Last weekend we went to an outreach in Salem to a conference called "God: For People Who Hate Church". This is one of the most unusual Christian Conferences that I have ever been to. The purpose of this event is to get us Christians more understanding of those who don't believe in Jesus Christ. Pastor Phil Wyman who is an amazing man got a discussion panel of Atheists and another of Neo-Pagans (polytheist, nature worshipers, etc). We practice the art of listening by asking them questions about what they believe, where they came from, why are they the way they are. One witch after being a witch for a while actually worked for a Christian Book Distrubutor Co. for six years. Two of the Athiest found it hard to believe that Jesus was raised from the dead. The Druid (pagan beliefs from Celtic times) use to be a practicing Jew. The other witch didnt know which witch was a witch, not really just had to say that. Two of the Neo-pagans were turned off by Chirstian's attempts of converting them. Overall it was a very hard for me knowingthey have turned away from Daddy's heart. Hopefully this unusual practice of listening will soften and change there hearts back to Papa.
Three greatly distinct Christian speakers came, Tony Jones, Jim Henderson, and Jay Bakker. Tony Jones was very brains oriented, Jim Henderson was very outside the box in his ways and Jay Bakker was very impactful. Having Tatoos from head to toe he walks in grace and forgiveness after living a history of condemnation and unforgivenss. He is a great example and hope to those who've fallen away from church and God.
Anton changing the atmosphere of Salem.
Jay Bakker spoke at this cool Baptist church.(the first American missionary was sent out of this church)
